Thrush is the devil!
So as I mentioned in a previous post, Laila came down with a case of thrush during the road trip. It was really a frustrating thing but the bright side is she was never in any pain. We took her to Urgent Care the second we got to Fort Sill. She was given a prescription for Nystatin and we were told she needed to follow up in a week. Well we used Nystatin for a week and the thrush went from just spots on her tongue to her lips, corners of her mouth, sides of her mouth and roof of her mouth!!! I was getting irritated by all this and the straw that broke the camel's back was my two month old becoming hoarse due to all this. So I went to the Internet and searched and stumbled across an article about Gentian Violet. I went around town looking for this stuff and ended up overpaying for it to the tune of $18; but at this point I just had to have it. Now as far as treatment, I diluted it with water and used q-tips to swab the inside of Laila's mouth with the mix. Now, it did in fact turn her mouth purple for several hours; but we saw improvement by the next morning. We had to apply Gentian Violet two more days and in those days she also developed nappy rash! UGH but after applying an antifungal cream we also saw that improve also. This was quite the battle but I am thankful it is over. Also want to add that daily all her bottles were sterilized after every use. Oh and because Gentian Violet stains, I applied Vaseline to the outside of Laila's mouth before applying and we had no real issues with stains.
Oops...We made it!!
I totally forgot to post that we made it to Oklahoma!! So far so good here; I'm enjoying our new home and although it took the delivery guys an extra week to get here with our things, we have everything now and I'm starting to get decorating ideas. Stay tuned.....

Hello New Mexico!
So last night we made it to Albuquerque New Mexico. Before heading to our hotel we ate dinner at Papadeux's which was very good. Our waiter was a very nice young man and we even got a complimentary dessert because it was our first time dining there. We stayed for the night at The Days Inn which again was a pretty decent hotel room. Laila had a pretty bad night though. She did not sleep well at all and appears to have developed thrush. I do not recommend a road trip this long for a newborn because of this very thing. I am a bit frustrated with this whole thing now and we plan to take her to urgent care once we're home. Cali is still doing well just hacks a bit when she drinks water; not sure why. We are almost to Texas now and should be home by this evening. Stay tuned.....

Enjoying the view!!
So we are in Idaho now and I must say it is nice to get out and enjoy the view every now and then. I have gotten to see the snow along with Laila, Cali and hubby. The sun is shining bright in Idaho and it's a wonderful site to see!! Our target for today is to get to Utah. So far today Cali is doing well on the drive; she found a nice comfy spot on the middle console and she is sleeping. Laila had a blow out this morning so we are going to have to pay closer attention and probably stop more frequently; but she is sleeping soundly as well. Stay tuned...
